Essroc has acquired a cement terminal in Indianapolis from Cemex as part of an asset exchange that included Essroc’s bulk cement terminal in Charlotte, N.C. This transaction is a further strategic move for Essroc in its ongoing consolidation around core geographies and key operations.
The Indianapolis terminal will be a key link strengthening Essroc’s market position between its Speed and Logansport cement operations. At the same time, the Charlotte bulk sales represented a portion of Essroc’s business with low profitability and located at a great distance from the plants.
The North Carolina package cement business, however, remains a key and profitable part of Essroc’s portfolio, the company said. Essroc will continue to service this market through the package terminals in Smithfield and Salisbury, N.C. The current sales team in North Carolina will continue to support this business.
